Lani D. Long, M.S., M.A., LMFT
Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Ms. Long holds a Bachelor's degree in Humanities and a Master's degree in Special Education from the University of Southern California. She graduated from Chapman University with a Master's degree in Psychology in 1995, and is currently a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in private practice (License # MFC 35885) at Deep Canyon Counseling. She has been in the mental health field for over 13 years. She is a Past President of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, Desert Chapter, and was in fact a charter member. In the 12 years of service on that board, Ms. Long has held nearly every position.  She has been a member of several other charitable organizations including the Soroptomists when working in the Bay Area and the Palm Springs chapter of the American Association of University Women.

Upon completion of her three thousand plus intern hours, Ms. Long launched her private practice by opening the building in Palm Desert now known as Deep Canyon Counseling.  She enjoys working with individuals, couples, families and seniors.  Group work is another format that enhances her practice in the areas she specializes in, which include Abuse and Trauma, Grief and Loss, Life transitions and Alternative Life styles.
Although she no longer has her therapy dog, Ms. Long strongly believes in the value of Pet Assisted Therapy.

In addition to her private practice, Ms. Long gives back to the community by supervising interns and providing them with pro bono in-service continuing education workshops.  She also has presented to schools and other organizations in the desert free of charge.  In addition Ms. Long works occasionally as a Hearing Officer for the Patients' Rights program at Riverside County's Oasis Rehabilitation Center in Indio.
As the CEO, Ms. Long fulfills the position of “Chairperson of the Board” on All-Desert Wellness Centers’ Board of Directors. She also functions as the “Executive Director (ED),” overseeing the functionality of all programs and services.

Generally, she manages the human resources of the organization, financial and physical resources, follows through with grant objectives, and help to arrange fundraising events and opportunities, as well as networking with other charitable organizations.  Her main objective is to insure that the public is fully aware of the existence of the All-Desert Wellness Centers and the services available to all.
